Are they as sturdy, or more so? How does RA tracking compare? (Yes, I know, I'm not going to try 3-hour exposures; it will be mainly observing.) And any thoughts on the difference between drives with AC versus DC?
I know there are a few of the Meade EQ Starfinders around, and there must be a few Samsons as they were sold by Astro-Optical. I've never used one, so ANY information or experience will help.

Grove Creek Observatory has an operational "Samson" mount.
The equatorial mount shown is known as a "Samson Mount" are no longer made any more but used to be a very popular mount available from Astro Optical, in Sydney, Australia. Please note that despite the many offers we receive via email, this mount is NOT for sale at any price, as it has a suburb low periodical error and is owned by Jim Lynch.
