The new Doctor

I'm watching "The Eleventh Hour" atm. The first episode of series 4. (cheers Robin thx)
Matt Smith is terrific as the new Doctor. His resemblance to a young Patrick Swayze is uncanny, and his personality is vibrant.
He had some big shoes to fill, and judging by this episode, he fills them admirably. I'm looking forward to seeing how he settles into the role.
It's quite a good story line. I love the way they introduced the Doctors new companion, Amy Pond. Intertwining it with the past and present.
But I'm starting to give spoilers. Sorry.
I'll be interested to hear others opinions on the new series. Because I love it.

I thought no-one would ever be able to replace Tom Baker, but David T has definitely set the bar REALLY high....

are you saying that patrick stewart is not a good actor?

P.S. Davit.T and Patrick Stewart made a film(?) together. I think its a BBC production hamlet.

The BBC site tells me trailers "not available in your area"...NOT FAIR!!

Just have to wait a few more weeks I guess(grumble, grumble).

I see what you mean about the young Patrick Swayze look, bound to get a few girls swooning & as for his new companion Amy...eww err...she's a bit of alright.

But will any ever compare to my boyhood love Leela?...I think not.

I believe something will be available on ABC iview on the 16th April but I don't know what.

Maybe a spoiler...?

Matt Smith's Doctor is a bit like David Tennant's- intense, jumping around, short sharp comments...I would say he is a young david tennant.
I had hoped for some point of difference besides his age.

he did seem to be more "action"-oriented, though, and I am sure they could play up his age a bit, which could give some good story lines.

Perhaps the next episode will highlight some more differences.

Having said that, I did like the episode.

There will probably be another story arc, like the Bad Wolf story arc for David Tennant and Rose, which will add to the series.

For those who have not seen the episode yet: Daleks are NOT in the first episode.

For those who have: I think there may be more to the dalek thing than meets the eye.
