STS-126 - EVA 1 Tool Bag Overboard

This is one bad hair day you'd never forget.
First her grease gun cuts loose and smears grease all through the tool bag, on her hands, on the camera. Then while she's trying to clean up that mess a tool kit worth $100,000 escapes.
I wonder if she can laugh about it now?

She should've done the heroic thing, tied herself off to one of the rails with a tie line, and then made a leap for the toolbag

Just think, it's the equivalent of tossing over the side a mid range Jag or Merc....you'd dive after one of those to stop it from getting away!!

They're not allowed to twitch an eyebrow without the say so of ground control. Note she didn't even start cleaning up the grease until told it was ok.
You know, she didn't swear, not once!

I know....but that stops the astronauts from using their initiative. They won't be able to call out to mission control on deep space missions, every time they have a problem.

Can't wait for mission control to tell you it's OK to clean out the bag or cabinet when you're stuck halfway between Earth and Mars. You just have to do it.

Ouch - agree with Liz - almost too painful to watch.
Thanks for posting Jeanette - pretty amazing NASA makes all this available. Commendable really.

Wonder what the sequence of events leading up to the grease gun episode was. Probably nothing to do with herself truth be known. The old "exploding grease gun in the handbag trick" (said with Maxwell Smart intonation....)

LOL she's cleaning all the grease out of her work bag.
But yes, it does look like she's looking for "something".
