New Moon smiling on Pleiades behind the clouds

Well this is my first post here and this particular experience was worth the effort.
Found a great spot that would have given me ample time to get a lot of shooting, by the time I was set up, the clouds rolled in from the north just in time to cover the moon and some ugly black clouds from the east armed to the teeth to drown me out, but I was determined to get something.
I snapped the two prime focus shots just as it started to spit followed by the fastest pack-up ever and a serious downpour just as I jumped in the car.
Waited ten minutes then shot the wide-field with my trusty eos450d in the 2 minute break before it came down again.
The outcome isn't as a disastrous as was the timing of the clouds.

The moon is hidden behind black clouds in the prime focus shots, never used the clouds as a filter before, kinda works if not for the Pleiades being obscured by them

Nice shots! I think the clouds really add to the pictures ... the two with Venus showing are the best ones methinks. Oh yes, welcome to IIS as well!

Hi soundworthy,

Those are gorgeous photos!
The scraggly black clouds contrast beautifully with the moon and stars.

thanks guys I really appreciate the welcome and kind words of praise, but I can't help but think that this might be an obsessive hobby where every blokes name is Michael.
