Lightning strikes last month

Hi All

I finally have time to post a few more shots from our horrendous storm last month ... I have been busy with my daughter's wedding etc doing video and photos for her.

The first shot was without doubt the largest bolt of all throughout the two nights of storms ... not long after it struck the bush fire brigade just up the road from me went into action with two way radios etc working overtime ... I could hear it all as I continued to photograph the passing storm as it ran down the valley to the south. I can only assume that the bolt struck something over the nearby hill that required their attention ... the energy in that one burst would have surely vapourized anything it hit.

The second shot shows my observatory silhouetted to the right hand side of the image .... obviously closed for the night.

The third was one of the last of the series of shots as the storm headed south striking out at both sides of the valley as it went.

p.s. Sorry about the different border colours ... I was probably tired. I actually took many, many shots of these storms .... too many to post them all ... best storms ever for lightning photography that I have experienced in my life.

Great images, really was a violent storm though so much damage just from the hail.

Very nice shots indeed! I got a couple of nice ones here in Adelaide on Sat night that I might post. Also got some spectacular ones last Oct near Pt Augusta, SA striking the water and land which I'll post too!
Cheers,
Wayne
