Anyone had experience with a Celestron CPC1100 GPS XLT?

Has anyone had any experience with the CPC1100 GPS XLT?

I am looking at a fairly new one and am not sure how good they are, say compared to a 10" Meade LX200.

Any advice appreciated.

Cheers

Rob

Hi Rob.

I had one and optically it was very good.
Stability , tracking and goto were all excellent.
I compared it to a Mead 10" (not sure if it was the LX200)
and the CPC was noticeably brighter.

On the downside:
It's quite heavy. Try lifting one on and off the tripod.
The motors can be annoyingly noisy: clicks and clunks etc...
There has been some reports of it's internal grease liquefying and running
all over the optics, although this might only apply to older models.
Have a good look inside with a torch and try to see any signs of liquid flow or staining.

gb.
