Hi Duncan

My first impulse is to tell you to either "upgrade" to XP or go to Windows 7 I think personally you are fighting a losing battle with Vista. The surest way to get everything working is I think using XP but if you have the machine for it you can use Win7 and XP mode to run the things you need of course I think you may find that Win7 will just run everything but I can't guarantee that this will be the case.
