Could you please advise what should be used for spiders which are all over the place at home (windows, walls, doors, ceilings,,,,etc) I also have a little newborn and want to get rid of the them without using harmful chemicals.
Does anyone know any home remedies on how to get rid of them ? Which repellent is advisable to be used ?
Well for what your asking? Air tight your entire house? If that isnt possible...
Maybe send your newborn baby to the Grandparents for the weekend, and use some surface spray in some places you'd expect spiders to come through your house. Doorways, windows, drains etc. Might be better off searching for a repellant or remidies on Google then asking a group of ameteur astronomers.
Besides, spiders are your friend. They eat the annoying flying insects that spread germs, like flys. If its the walking spiders your worried about like the funnel web and other poisonous ones, surface spray on the ground at doorways will hold them at bay.
Maybe just spray a little Baygon or Mortein in the affected areas? Or do some research and find those insecticides which are active for a few weeks/months and don't emit strong odours?
Btw, Don't use Coles, homebrand and other cheap crap, you could wipe out a platoon of elephants with the odour of that garbage.
As has been noted, if you want to keep pesticides out of the house then a vacuum cleaner (unless you are willing to capture and release outside).
A barrier spray of insecticide can be placed around the outside of your house at entrances, windows, gaps etc. If you were building new I would say spray between the walls (works great for many pests and lasts a long time in the dark dry spaces).
Spiders are generally very sensitive to synthetic pyrethroids (a class of chemistry)...
As has been mentioned spiders help to keep many of our real household pests under control. If they are only daddy long legs or the small chunky house spider then the vacuum is definitely the way to go.
You have a newborn baby who will be a crawler in no time. Do you really want to be spraying insecticides around on the floor and corners where your baby is going to be crawling and chewing.
If it came to a choice of a bit of good old fashion dirt from the floor and a few spiders crawling well out of reach compared to ingesting surface spray off baby hands and clean walls (and subsequent increase of cockroaches etc) I know which way I'd be going.
I've found an aerosol can and a BBQ lighter to be extremely effective. Probably should'nt try it during fire season. the council gets mad...
Edit: Might I also add that standing on something, squeeling like a girl and waving your arms around works too. If the neighbours dont rush in thinking you're being murdered and deal with the issue on your behalf, then the spiders will realise that its much more comfortable beign as far away from you as possible and leave on their own accord.

Reason: another thought...
