Tedious...another M83 (sort of repro)

Managed to combine a tad of new STX luminance data with my older image of this delightful southern spiral.

Peter,

Nothing much to say other than that is magnificent.

Utterly stunning. I'm in love with this galaxy!

That is excellent, for sure! Certainly not tedious, I don't think anyway.

Thanks guys.

It's I tough subject from the 'burbs.

Unfortunately the surrounding sky looks a bit ordinary & is artifically dark due gradients. The extra QE of the KAF16803 pulled in a bit more detail within the galaxy ..... It will be interesting to see how it performs with a filter set (still a few weeks away...)

Really nice shot, Peter. I really cant find the words as its far above what I can aspire to doing. Lovely detail etc and processing. Like Humayun, I just love this galaxy.

Very nice! Just one comment - are the stars a bit blocky? Is this undersampled or is it just my monitor? Apart from that amazing really..

There are lots of things I'd like to improve here, but the sampling was just fine... Key "twilight-zone" music. Adjust your television set

Hi Peter,

It's a fine picture, but just a tad over processed IMHO. The dark lanes and detail in the galaxy show some sharpening or deconvolution artifacts. More data is the key, this one really responds to lots of data.

Cheers
Stuart

Ah yes, tedious indeed - I get so tired seeing stunning images Peter. You and Tom need to cut it out!

Nah...still needs some work....the galaxy looks OK, but the field stars/background is buggered due gradients.

Looks pretty good given the sky conditions that you are dealing with. The colours are superb.

I couldn't work out why it looked blocky on my screen. So based on your comments I zoomed in on your image and you are absolutely right - no trace of undersamping! But as it's displayed on your website the stars just looked to be for some reason?
