first light from the doghouse - m42
last night i had first light from the doghouse observatory. After all my hassles, trials and tribulations (nothing has changed)....... i obtained my first images from the observatory. this is a raw unprocessed image from the R200SS 8" Vixen, cooled canon 350D and the MPCC on the G11. I will post a "processed " image later, as i only got 59 minutes worth.
so here are a 10 second shot, 3minute shot, 5 minute shot, flat and dark. all iso400
I havent used this camera since duckadang LOL. must try and clean it

Nice one Dave. Looks like you have the polar alignment, guiding etc nailed. Good to see you back imaging and rattling around the observatory. Even an hour in your new observatory is worth three outside - just look at it that way.
Regards, Allan

Nah... Just plug it in and shoot away. It's so much easier than using your DSLR.

ok here is a quick process of the images - not the best processing but will do for now - processed in pixinsight and resized in PS for posting.
This has been an achievement for me, and i have attained a goal of imaging this area (rather poorly). I am on the path.....

Starts to look good David, now slap the QHY8 in and your cooking
Making the pictures is the easiest part, the processing can take years to get right

I'll tell you what - you can have all my photons from M42 in 2011. I'll save them in a jar and post them over.
