Auto-tracking mount?

Hey,

I have a 8'' dob and just wondering if anyone knows if and where i can get a auto-tracking mount for it. i have seen dobs with auto-tracking but im just wondering if i can just get the mount.

Or am i able to put the dob on a different mount such as a altaz?

thanks

There are 3 ways to acheive tracking as I know.
  • Digital Setting Circles combined with motorise mount (Mel Bartel is one, Skywatcher Tracking is another)
  • EQ mounts can be used which eventually acts as a Newtonian Reflector but I am not sure how well it can be used for photography though.
  • Equatorial Mount - This is one I am going to make. As I am interested in Astro Photography I would prefer correct motion as AltAz drives do not cover planetary rotation affect an important feature needed in long exposure AP.
I may consider EQ but a bit limited in funds for that step as yet. As a DIY'er I feel that EQ platform is the simplest and cheapest method for the moment.
