Another shot of the Vela Supernova Remnant complex.

The delicate filaments of oxygen gas are against a backdrop of hydrogen and sulphur.

I like the delicateness of some of these filaments.

Taken at my dark site observatory last weekend.

Geez mate you're really bashing the Vela region of late... Doing a mighty fine job of it too... I was just flicking through your most recent work with the TEC180FL - Absolutely marvellous work mate.. You're really churning out some quality gear...

Thanks Alex. I hope to get out more once my new observatory is built and I can do mega hour exposures and go super deep.

Cheers

Greg.

Thanks Frank. Its a pretty area. I'll have to do mosaic of this area some time. I'll have to master mosaics first as I have only done a few and they are difficult to match the panels. The Sky V6 has a mosaic tool so I needed that as well as I tended to get lost trying to find the next location to image in the mosaic.

Here you go Greg. My 300mm optic is good at showing where to go or where you have been with your superb large optic.

I know how difficult it is to get everything correct for a very good image. As focal length increases the problems go up exponentially.

Keep this up and you may cover the whole region.

Note also how rectilinear both optics are.

Of your recent images Greg, to me this is the pick of them even though it does come up a touch blue on my monitor here at work.

Thanks also to Bert for putting into perspective how huge this area is.

It's been fascinating watching Greg and Bert working this part of the sky to the max and approaching it from opposite ends of the astro imaging spectrum - thank you both.

Oh and Greg your old FSQ is working a treat, when the weather permits. I haven't done much with it in the past 12 months but am hoping to turn that around from April and get back in to some star parties and SASI nights - stay tuned .

Fascinating Bert. So I was midway between the 2, I had no idea. It was
trial and error and I spent an hour trying to find a decent spot to image.
Yuri at TEC does make good optics. He is making a 110mm F5.6 fluorite triplet plus a flattener for me as well but that may be a few months away. No rush. He made a prototype and the testing of the actual lens didn't match the computer simulation so he is reworking it. He maintains a high standard like Roland Christen of AP.

Thanks Wayne. It does have some blue in it but on my monitor it seems fine. That is the O111 areas.

Thanks Dr Paul.

I am glad it came out as it was the only image that night.

Oooh no you're NOT! No need to look at the sky through a Vander-straw

Lovely area that, well named too.

Back on track Greg. Quality we expect from you. Very nice work in managing the OIII and Ha blend to give the image depth. Well done.

Thanks Jase.

I use a multiple layers approach rather than assign each component to a channel in the Ha image.

I have to upgrade to Photoshop CS4 now they've made the upgrade process easier.

Greg.

Very nice image Greg. This regions is on my to do list, which seems to be getting larger and larger by the minute. The stars look great and the field of view is pretty nice. Such a huge area and you have done this section nicely.

Thanks Paul. It took an hour just to settle on what part I was going to image!

I liked it because it would be a delicate type shot rather than the hit you over the head type images I have often done.

Greg.
