Images plus image release problem

Hi all, I am totally stumped on this one. I use Images Plus for camera funtion and I have 2 canon camera's the 500D and the 350D. The 500D is my main imaging camera and works fine, but I decided to hook up the 350d with the bulb shutter release cable as I used to.
It all works O.K, mirror flips up , takes the image but it will not release the image, it stays jammed saying waiting for download for ever. Even when I switch the camera off everything else switches off except the pic counter on the camera and it keeps blinking until i disconected the USB plug. I have tried this with the transfer tab checked + unchecked.
I also thought it was maybe a windows 7 compatability issue so I ran it in my XP virtual machine ( because it worked fine on my prevoius XP set up) but it does the same thing.
Any ideas anyone.

Thanks in advance,

Daniel.

I have exactly the same problem with my Canon 350D, not much help I know. But if you ever find out why it happens would be very interested.

Hi Daniel

Not sure if this could be the problem but there are 2 versions of ImagesPlus Camera Control, the newer version is for the latest Canon cameras and the older version, which comes bungled with the new version, is for the older Canon 350D and earlier, something to do with different SDK's I believe.

Cheers

Sounds like you have ICNR turned on and it's doing the dark.

The only other time I have had similar is when using 6+m of USB cabe.

Thanks roger, that was the first thing I checked but not so. I have also tried different bulb cables and a different USB to serial adapter. still no luck.

Cheers Daniel.

I had a similar problem when the USB Hub was playing up.

Have you tried it directly connected and not through any Hubs etc?

Did you try if it works with another program like dslr shutter?
If that doesn't work, it might be your serial box with the optocoupler in it.

Yep, tried DSLR shutter but that wont even run the camera at all.
I thought it may be the bulb cable but tried it with the other 2 and same.

Thanks guys.

Do you have the resources to be able to try the same camera on a different computer with different USB cable?

Hi all, Mike in the UK here. Just had my (one of the last Canon 40Ds made)returned from Centralds after having the full cooling modifications carried out. I have also purchased from Mike Unsold the latest version of Images Plus 3.80B Camera Control for Windows. I'm running this on a Gateway Laptop (Celeron M) with Windows XP. Sor far bench testing camera functions look good but the real testing will start soon on my own designed 130 F7 SuperApo (Astreya Optics)mounted on a G11.

Daniel have you loaded the disc that came with your 350D, they are not all the same.

I used to have a 40d and a 5D hooked up to the same computer, but you need a separate usb lead for each to download.

Hi Mike and welcome.
Leon , yep, I installed the original disc for the 350d but no good.
However I just got the kids XP PC back from repairs and installed the canon software and Images plus and it all works fine again, so I think it may be a matter of hopeing that one day Canon may make drivers for the older cameras to run on win7, unless it is still something else.

Cheers Daniel.

I have tried to run IP2.8 under XP but still not able to get it to run. I have sent an email to Canon asking about the drivers for Win7. I'll let you know what they say.
