Catalouges for MaxIm.

I am also interested in using MaxIm for plate solving/alignment and astrometry. I have the GSC but it says I should be using the corrected version or USNO catalouges. Can anyone point me to a source or somewhere I can purchase these on disc.
Thanks

When it says the corrected version does it mean GSC version 1.2?

Yes, I think that is what it is referring to. On the link you provided, what do I download and do I just put it on my HDD and point MaxIm to it?
I have yet to get the time to check out the other link, but wow, 80G is a bit!!

You're the one with Maxim, not me.

For CdC I downloaded everything in the GSC directory (it's only about 300MB) and just told it where to find it.

You might find the best way to download it is with wget. http://gnuwin32.sourceforge.net/packages/wget.htm

Then it is simply:

wget --passive -m -np -nH --cut-dirs=4 http://cdsarc.u-strasbg.fr/viz-bin/f...cats/1/254/GSC

and go make your beverage of choice.

CdC doesn't use USNO-B. USNA-A2.0 looks like it is about 600MB. I'm just running:

wget --passive -m -np -nH --cut-dirs=3 ftp://ftp.nofs.navy.mil/pub/outgoing/usnoa/

inside the c:\astro\USNA-A2.0 directory. They don't seem to have as much bandwidth.

The GSC 11 works OK, what has told you you need to upgrade? They are also here.

Thanks for the help, guys, I'll sus it out a bit more. Marki, it hasn't said to upgrade, it has sugested that I use a different catalouge as it would be more accurate when I select it in MaxIm. If 1.1 is going to do the job, good enought for me, I'll ignore the MaxIm's suggestions!
