Video finder lens

Inspired by Bert's (avondonk) video finder setup I grabbed a bargain off eBay to use with my video setup. It's a Vicon 16-160mm zoom that was used for surveillance. I've rigged up a couple of momentary action switches to use as zoom and focus control. Hope to eventually rig this up as a finder. Tested it out this afternoon and isn't too bad. Next challenge will be to rig it up on the scope

Wow, I'm in the middle of doing the same thing with a very similar lens. Mine is a Fujinon 16-160mm f1.8 lens, which looks basically the same as yours, but maybe a bit heavier. The optics in these are superb, though I haven't tried it on the stars yet. I'm using a SAC-Mintron camera on it. I'm actually considering imaging through this lens at some stage with a little cooled CCD camera.
I hope it works well for you as a finder, the f1.8 aperture should help.

Cheers,
Jason.
