Star Trek Online

I'm wondering how many of you out there are into computer gaming and MMOs and whether any of you have picked up a copy of Star Trek Online.

Must say. It's pretty good.

If anyones got it, know of any good guilds looking for members?

I'm already a WoW addict, don't need another MMO

I have however got a friend who was in the Beta and he said it was pretty good.

Yeah I played around with the Open Beta. Can't say I was a big fan of the away missions. I did this one were all I did was run around killing aliens, and collecting alien plant samples. Fun!

However the space combat was fun! Got into an area where a group of strangers and myself, teamed up to fight spawns of Klingon vessels. That was good. Got even better when I went to space station, only to find out it was under attack by a Klingon fleet! There were ships EVERYWHERE! Fun times.

Haven't bothered signing up as yet as I find I just don't have the time for MMO's thesedays. I'd rather stick to games which I can play on my own time without getting slugged on a monthly basis. Hello Mass Effect 2.

Star Trek was the first computer game I ever played!
You logged onto the university's mainframe using a tone-dial modem, typed in "get$sttr1" and waited for a reply. And waited. And waited a bit more.
Some minutes later, you would get a paper read-out with the current state of play telling you where Klingons, Romulans and the like could be found.
You guided your ship aroung by typing in STOS coordinates, Warp Factors, etc.
You fired your weapons in a similar fashion.
As a matter of fact it was exactly like a modern MMO except it took nearly a week to complete one encounter and cost about $10 per hour to play.
And no hi-res CRT or LED either. Just heat-sensitive paper. Lots and lots of paper.
