Concrete Fence Posts for a Pier ?

I've heard that a reinforced concrete fence post makes a good pier. My question is: how do you attach your mount head & scope to it? Does anyone know?

For the trouble mucking around trying to convert a concrete post into a peir it would be less work to buy a bag of Pre-mix concrete, pour it into a form (whatever size box you want your pier) and set a mounting plate into the top whilst the concrete is still wet.

Those bags of Pre-mix are pretty cheap!
