RA and Dec motors

Well. I've finally gone and done it. I placed an order this afternoon for RA and Dec motors for the EQ5 mount for the ol' Skywatcher 8".

I just couldn't take it anymore!

Imaging without drives ... is a true lesson in frustration. Even for visual it's a pain when you're using high mag EPs.

The only notable aspect of all this is that I didn't do it sooner

Should be $280 well spent?

Hoping to see an improvement in my imaging fairly soon

Now I've got the joys of polar alignment to contend with!!!!!

I feel like the kid who joined the class half-way through the year and had to try and catch up

But Dave, I'm sooooooooooooooo ****** excited

I'm like Big Kev ... in the sky with diamonds

Hey matt - well done. I'd be interested to see what the motor kit looks like for that mount. I have another friend who is thinking about buying one of those and I'm sure he'd love to see it. He lives in Holt, about 5 minutes away from my place, and he's just finished an 8" f/6 tube and now wants a mount for it.

Dontcha love this weather?? :-(
