When does Saturn rise at the moment?
I haven't got any sky chart software on this laptop at the moment
Can someone please tell me when Saturn rises tonight, and what time it passes overhead for Sydney area.
Thanks!

For Sydney, it rises at 9.07pm and culminates at 3.10am. This is from Cartes Du Ciel.

Hi Mike
I just set The Sky for Sydney for the attached screen print. The dialog box for Saturn shows the rise and transit times as 21:07pm and 03:10am respectively.
I did not enter that you guys are AEST + 1hr, so I’m not sure if The Sky needs to be told this, or whether it has already factored it in?
Cheers
Dennis

When you picked Sydney as the location it chose AEDT for the timezone, so as long as the rules are correct the times will be right for Sydney. Wait and see if it gets it right for the last week of March and the first week of April.

lol thanks Steve, I went to bed right after posting.
I set the alarm for 1:45am, went outside and was met by clouds
So I went back to bed.
Thanks for the responses! I'm going to install Stellarium and give it a try.

I find CdC gives more useful information but without much of the eye candy, and isn't as demanding on video.

That's what Astronomy 2010 is for Mike. Surely you have one lying about somewhere?

As far as i am concerned, with the cloud i am experiencing, Saturn should rise about 12 hours before it sets......
