The Replacement

As some of you know, I recently sold my 8"newt. It wasn't being used, it was too long for me to handle safely.
So I thought this scope would make a good replacement.
How's this, I even got to have first light on the first night!!!!
It was only for 20 minutes between clouds and showers. I had it up on the iOptron Mini Tower set up under cover on the front verandah. But I had a look at Mars and a few stars. It's a right pain looking through it visually though with no diagonal.
So today I'm going to put the camera on it and take a few photos of the abattoir up on the hill. Start to get a feel for the scope, work out it's idiosyncrasies.
So far I've found her to be a lovely scope, every thing I thought she would be.

I think the heq5pro will be up to it Trevor. I use my iOptron scope for guiding, it weighs next to nothing. If I was going to use the ed80, yes, I would definitely have to consider upgrading.

Congrats Nettie, it sure does look pretty .

Yeah, the 8" Newts are big and awkward to handle aren't they! I had to stop lugging my setup (Heq5 and 8"newt) around all put together as I would need a little lie down once I had it where I wanted it so that I could feel my left foot again!

First light on the first night - who's a lucky girl then?
I think Liz is still waiting for hers...

LOL yeah, the abbs.
So long as I'm looking at it from the outside, I'm happy. I don't ever want to have to work in there again. It's hard yakka.

I'll post a pic of the scope on it's proper mount, once I get around to unloading all my gear from the car.
