DSLR Raw Images

DSLR Raw Images

The hand book provided with the Canon DSLR 1000D shows Raw Images can be saved with the same file number as the JPG when combined and listed as CR2. The attached stitched image was recorded using this combination of quality, but I cannot find the Raw images. Can the experienced provide info on this?
The attached pic is 2x 5 stills stacked in Deep Sky Stacker 3 and stitched.

Dennis,

Although, I've never shot using the double-save method before, the only difference should be in the extensions. One will be *.JPG, as you've obviously found, the other should be *.CR2.

Load up the EOS Utility to download the images and you should see them all load up in ZoomBrowser EX or Digital Photo Professional.

Dennis as H said mate don't bother with double takes of the same image unless you need them for other purposes, either one or the other.

However having said that follow H's advice you will see them there.

Double takes!

Hi all you friendly guys many thanks, apparently I didn't set the camera to the double image JPG and CR2, because I can only open JPG images in Zoom Browzer. Waiting for a clear sky to try Orion or one of the brighter images then I'll have a better idea of it.

Hi Dennis

Just a thought - when you said:

- do you mean that in ZoomBrowser you see only the JPG images displayed or that you can also see next to each corresponding JPG image another equivalent one which is CR2 type but cannot view it directly?

If you do not see CR2 types lined up next to the JPG ones in ZoomBrowser then you definitely have not recorded in RAW but just in JPGs only!!

Cheers
Bill
