M101 and friends

Hi folks!

The day before yesterday we had clear sky. But only upon 1500 m (4900 feet) above sea level - fog !!!

But I have an observation place for such a situation, 1600m above sea level.

Moonset at 2 a.m. , all the wonderful winter objects were gone. So I had to go for galaxies. But this is not easy with the little Pentax 75.
I decided to capture M101, maybe with some other small galaxies.

350d mod. with Pentax 75,
17x10min with ISO 800

Indeed, there are a lot of weak and small galaxies on the pic, better to see here:

I hope you like it a little, its not easy to capture galaxies with the small Pentax.

Regards

Werner

That's a pretty good image for using the Pentax. Very well done.

Few faint fuzzies in there nice image at the higher res bit dim in the smaller version though. I ran the image in CS3 for auto levels, auto colours, shadow highlights and cropped it I hope you don't mind

Cheers

Very nice Werner. THe high-res shows incredible details even in the smaller galaxies around.

What a wonderful galaxy - and a great shot of the region it sits in. You're so lucky to get a nice view of this one.

Thanks for showing Werner!

Thanks for your nice comments!

In eropean springtime I can only do pics like that with the little Pentax. But I like it, there are so many small and weak galaxies to discover.

And maybe I will get a telescope with more focal length in the future. So I can come closer to them.

cheers

Werner

That is just nice. When I see other galaxies like that and even more in the background, I have to wonder about distant life. Nice work.
