First one to guess what this is gets a prize...
Well... the prize is a friendly "you guessed it"...
This is from around 1993. Anyone guess what it is and what optical system it employs?

Well, by the turned edge of the end of the OTA it’s definitely a Tak – maybe the Mewlon prototype?
Cheers

Right and yet wrong Dennis
Speaking of Mewlon prototypes, I was at Bintel yesterday and Mike Smith showed me photos he took at Takahashi (when they were still in Tokyo) of the original Mewlon prototype. The whole mirror cell area was painted in a Tak blue colour (like the FS-102 dew shield ring). Looked amazing.

I’d guess it was the Teegul 150 with a 150mm F5.7 OTA.
Cheers

Or better still.. . the TG100 f7.7 1992 a Dall-Kirkham type Cassegrain reflector. Spherical main mirror & blue board type, image circle 20mm, tube length 430mm, O.D.120mm, weight 1.3kg. TG100 is the smallest version of Mewlon series telescope, loaded on TG-S altazimuth mount with light weight tripod. A versatile scope good for terrestrial viewing & astronomical stargazing.

I'm guessing Dennis is on the money with the Tak, and its a catadioptric of sorts, but has no corrector, so I'l take a big guess and try an RC???

Oh so close Dennis. Yes, it's the Teegul 100 @f/7.7.
The optical system (not DK)? Clue: It was "correct image"...
Not an RC Al...

You have no idea, do you?
It's a "tel-es-scope"...

LOL! Too funny! hehe... but it's almost correct.
The original page:
http://astrosurf.com/sogorb/takahash...hi_teegul.html
It's a Dilworth Relay based design. It results in correct image for terrestrial use.
PS - Dennis guessed it.
Back to normal programming...

Very interesting, Chris! It certainly keeps the secondary obstruction small.
Congratulations, Dennis! Your prowess in all things astronomical is... astronomical!
Good bit of fun!
When's the next one????

I enjoyed a brief session this morning going through some of the history of Takahashi ‘scopes – a veritable who’s who of amazing ‘scopes and mounts!
Cheers
Dennis
PS – Chris, would you like my full postal address for delivery of the proffered prize of the EM500 and Mewlon 300. LOL!

I'm just checking back through my posts to find where I offered said prize Dennis. I can't find it but I'm sure you're probably correct...
Can I get back to you?
