My wife floored me today. No she didnt deck me , but she nearly did with what she arranged. We were to get new lino flooring done today - which was done, but she secretly organised for two new air conditioners to be installed for the house - and in the nick of time to with some more hot days due and all arranged yesterday and installed this morning while i was at work. When i drove up the driveway this afternoon i didnt even notice the units - but the extra cardboard boxes up the drive I have wanted air con for 15 years
You lucky duck! I just finally got an air con this summer and boarded up my window with it for a cheapie installation (mind you it was still $500 worth). Best money spent - I've been sleeping so soundly since, which is GREAT!
Yes, it would be nice to have aircon, its a little bit disheartening living in my house for 4 years and having a $15,000 VRF system with 4 indoor units in the house BUT NOT CONNECTED for 4 years (and still isnt).
I suppose thats what you get for having it done by your father in law who procrastinates getting things done.
Frustrating thing is, the ducts are in, all we need to do is connect the indoor units in the roof to the duct and wire/plumb it up.
thanks JJJ with the temps in the next couple of days touching 40 it will be welcomed

C'est la vie, maybe next year???
Lucky I have a pool out the back, but still.
Enjoy the dehumidified air and the comfort....
Cheers
Chris

up there it would be hope its cool for nov 2012 renting a room out?
With the amount of camera and telescope gear you have, it's a wonder you didn't get twice as many air conditioners to cool the sensors down and to bring all your mirrors and glass to ambient. :pokepokepoke:

Only 40? We've had several of those this summer. The Melbourne/Adelaide/Broken Hill/etc crowd could say the same.
You'll even more notice the reduced humidity and being able to sleep. 1am with mid to high 20s and 30% is much more comfortable than 1am with high 20s or 30s and 90+%.
You could network the obs and run it from the cool of the house. Also the warmth of the house in winter.
I think we'll have to install a second split system for the area the one we have doesn't cool/heat, or upgrade to ducted.

if you go back a few frames (the beginning ) you will see i ran power and data cables
Congrats Houghy, but i'd rather 40 than 34 with 99 humidity
Seriously though Cheers and enjoy.

Agreed! I remember a couple of weeks ago, we had a record high overnight min temp of 30.6C, then a "cool" change moved in which did nothing but raise the humidity and we ended up with temps of 32-33C with dewpoints around 20C.
I sweated more than on a standard dry 40C day! The T-shirt really does stick to you like glue
