Another Rosette NGC 2237 and 2244

Well I was in two minds about posting this image to give Alex a chance to complete his lovely Rosette but it looks like everyone else is posting the Rosette. So here is mine.
Ha,HaRGB blend shot with QHY8Pro OSC cooled CCD. The blend is a bit of a mongrel to get right and I am not 100% happy with this.

It is a blend of 1.5Hrs Ha processed into a red image to blend with the red and also as a mono image for a luminance layer. The RGB is also 1.5 hrs of data. All images are registered with Registar and combined with IP3. Final blending is carried out with Photoshop CS3.

I'm not qualified to critique it Doug but love the final result - appreciate you outlining the details of what was involved though.

I hope I sort out LRGB before the Rosette is gone this year.

Looks good to me Doug ... although all the stars appear golden in colour which I doubt they would be ... not a critisicm just an observation.

It seems to be a problem during the blend process but I will work something out.

Nice definition in the centre! Very nice to look at. The colours are bright and vibrant which I think helps the image definition in this target.

only critique is a tad to red for my liking, if you run an auto levels and colour it may improve the star colour, then drop the red satuiration

Nice framing, focus and looks very nice, but the Ha has made it a bit red biased. Other than that a nice Rose Doug!

Well well the Rosette is hitting us as hard as Orion now

Overall it looks pretty impressive, like an old colour print done by Dave Malin you might see in an old text book..?

There is a bit of a monochromatic feel though and not much variation in star colours (well none really). It is very hard to combine Ha into a colour image without stuffing up star colours and everything else really..? For my Orion Sword shot I combined all my Lum and Ha into one master Lum, this nearly always works...? You use a on shot so things may be different?

Personally I reckon drop the Ha from the red blend and just keep HaRGB. The stars seem devoid of colour as Mike suggested. No blue stars showing at all. That is most likely caused by the HaR blend.

Detail is great though and certainly sure with some changes to blends this could be a great image.

Thanks everyone, I have some concerns with this image to do with colour, both in the nebula and the stars. I think I may have to live with the stars for the moment but in future I may try some shorter exposures to protect the stars then mask them into the final image.
As for the nebula I have done a repro without using the Ha as a luminance layer and I am much happier with the end result.
