NGC2442 in Volans.

Wow. What can i say...some clear weather for SE Qld. Enough anyway to get a few nights of mono imaging in and a shakedown in the observatory.

First off the rank from last Sunday night.

NGC2442 in Volans
Imaging: WO 72FD and SXVF-H9. No filters. Best 9 of 10/600s exp. Calibrated with darks and flats, aligned and median stacked in IP. Post processing PS CS3

I'm really happy how this has turned out. I'll definitely be going back to collect much more data for longer, and maybe even up to the ED80.

Looks the goods Paul... Could probably do with some more focal length... Maybe a target for the 8" SCT?

Definitely more focal length needed. I was more interested in getting my guiding up to speed. Having good data to work with was just a bonus.

Guiding looks tight, and focus looks good too.... Was this taken off your big fat concrete pier?? Is that all up and running yet?

Yes Alex, its up and running now. Definitely no vibration in that pier.

I've never heard it called the Meat Hook Gary, but it does look like one. Yes clear skies have been a while coming

Wow, such a wide field compared to what I'm used to! I've never seen such a wide field of this guy before. And yeap, I know him as the "meat hook" too

Nice and sharp. Stars are nicely shaded too, looks like a perfect screen shot taken from TheSky6

This is a small one Paul, Bigger scope required but you have captured some nice detail even at this scale.
