G'day all, this subject just doesn't seem to fit anywhere else...

Now that I have recovered from Mount Kosciuszko...

As part of my continuing 2010 resolution to get out more and take more risks, I am looking for company for a photography outing near Canberra in the very near future. I am happy to take just one person or a group.

What: Bushwalk Photography outing. Full Saturday, early start, late finish. Possibly camp overnight there and return Sunday morning. Hard going. Hiking with backpack containing all the sundries PLUS photography equipment.

Where: Ginini Falls from Mount Franklin in Canberra's southern mountain range. http://members.tip.net.au/~jevans/Pa...2007_04_17.htm

When: Real soon. Probably mid to late February on a Saturday.

I am going up there for Landscape, Macro and low-light photography. Hopefully the falls are running. They are around 200 metres high!!

I've never been there before which is kind of the whole point. The trip will require fitness and stamina. It is dangerous and there are snakes aplenty at this time of year.

This will be hard going and challenging so if you are unfit this is probably not for you.

If this sounds like something you would like to throw yourself into, let me know and we will tee it up. It will be a very intense little adventure but one that will be extremely rewarding. If you do decide to come, then be decisive! No namby-pambying around and "OOOH..I might be able to go, let me check my diary." If you are keen, then GEAR UP AND LETS GO!

From experience make sure everyone has plenty of water especially when hiking a person requires at least 2 litres of water per day

Actually I was going to drive them into the desert for 2 days with no water and see how they fair...

I drink at least 2 litres(8 glasses) of water a day, and I am sitting down most of the time.

For hiking, I'd say 5 litres per day sounds more like it.

You drink way to much water for someone sitting down

if you;ve got a 2 day hike and there's no way to refresh your water supply you try carrying 10 litres of water

I think thats assumed Peter. Otherwise how would you get the bone china and crystal up the mountain for our evening meal.

i did Mt Bogong after New Year - it is fantastic to get above the treeline in Australia - there is too few places to do this..felt like i was on top of the world

And no sherpas. If one of you has a sherpa then you have to bring enough for everyone.
