My New EQ Mount!
I would like to take this opportunity to publicly thank Bert (avandonk) for his friendship today and his absolutely amazing generosity.
Bert read in one of my posts that I was looking for plans to build an EQ Mount. Well, to cut a long story short, he has given me his old EQ mount (with tracking!!!!) and Pier.
It is a major heavy duty unit built to take up to a 16" Scope.
I will post a pic of it as soon as I take one.
BUT not only that!!! Bert also gave my boys Jake & Harry an 8" f7 Reflector along with 2 brand new EP's!!!
Jake & Harry say a very big thank you. They are very excited to have their very own scope. I'm sure Harry will PM you.
from me & my boys "Thank You Bert". Mate, you are a GEM yourself!

PS. Bert, I would like a 20" truss Dob.

Tony I think Ken has already had his birthday, chrismas and any other day all in one "BERT Day"! Phenominal!
Ken, that poor old kodak will be working overtime with the tracking. We will be expecting some big things from you from now on.
Now all you need is a working bee and a donated sirius observatory

Hats of to you Bert, i like your way of thinking. We come into the world with open hands and we leave it with open hands. Though with our last breth we may try to grasp for life all our holding on is to no avail, we pay it forward with the memories and deeds we leave behind.
Thanks and Regards

We both grunted and groaned and strained to get the top section into the boot of the car! Man, it was heavy!!
Looking forward to firing it up.

brilliant,
well done Bert and I am now sorry to say we have lost a fellow dobber forever.
Never thought i would see the day, when old kendob swivelled his last swivel. I spose that once you get all high and mighty with an eq, then us dobbers left behind will be forgotten!
Now finally, someone can try out the damn toucam with the long exposure mod with tracking!!!!!!

Davo, I'll still be dobbing. The EQ is for semi-permanent mounting at home! but the dob mount can travel with the OTA away from home.
I say semi-permanent because I would like to be able to take the EQ to Star Camp!

Wonderful to hear of such generosity and may all your skies be clear for ever more Bert. Encouragement of fellow humans in their endevours is the nobelest thing one can do. May the Universe shower you with its treasure.
Ken I am very happy for you and your family (which now includes an EQ mount) and I cant wait to see how you produce with such a wonderful tool. What are the chances of a foto of the new arrival... and do we all get cigars?
