Radio astronomy and Jupiter

For those of you interested in Jovian radio astronomy on a small budget, Silicon Chip (Aug 08) describes a receiver for Jupiter's decametre transmissions. The SC Jupiter Radio Kit can be purchased from Altronics for $86.

There are interesting possibilities here with regard to the Jovian transmissions. How do the transmissions relate to the rotation of Jupiter? What influence do the Jovian moons have? There is evidence, for example, that Io has a significant affect on these transmissions.

Consider a combined observation schedule that correlates Jupiters rotation, the relative position of its moons, and the intensity of the radiation. Combine the visual and radio observations into a movie with Jovian soundtrack!
