What's left. Santa's been straightened up as you know. We now have a Mrs. Claus just so it didn't seem too sus' for a grown man to hang out with a bunch of elves, pixies and lordie, lordie reindeer. The Easter Bunny seems to be out there still I think. Noddie and Big Ears are long gone as is Winnie the Poo. Heaven forbid how could you name a bear 'poo' anyway. Instead we have the no less androxynous Wiggles, Bananas in Pyjamas and Anna Bligh. Save me from the real world. Please!

Serious??? Damn that’s crazy... I am just waiting until people start saying that Santa should be thinner as he promotes obesity.

I really can not believe there are people out there that study this stuff and think that young kids understand the political or socioeconomic messages that it might or might not be sending….

When was the last time you heard 5yo’s debating the serious world issues that are represented in Thomas the Tank… FFS

When you see the qualifications of the author "Political Scientist" you should immediatelly label it as rubbish. A "Political Scientist" is not a scientist just a toadie for the government that employs him. His findings are based only on his and his masters' interpretation of the material examined. It probably occupied his appointment for 12 months and for which he was paid a lot of money.

Come to think of it this description probably describes 99% of political advisors.

Thomas is definitely my friend too!

Also crazy - I bought a jar of that "iSnack 2.0" the other night in the belief that it had already gone through a name change, and that the original label might be collectible some day (me collecting again..LOL).

Anyhow - on the label:

"Best before Feb 2010 - Jar may break on impact".

Well I've been saved. They've now made me aware that the jar "may" break if hit. Thank you Kraft. I feel safer, and you've done your best to warn morons that you know of their dastardly scheme to make a buck from you by feigning ignorance.

Is there to be no end to this cotton wool treatment? Surely it will end some day.

Friend of mine was chopping veges for dinner, her 2 boys came in fighting and screaming, she turned and shook her hand at them while telling them to settle down, her chopping knife flew out of her hand and into one the the boys.

I fully agree Trevor.

I can't remember the last time I saw a 5 year old with a socio-political degree.

I think most of them are just happy to see a talking train and probably don't even care what Thomas is even saying.

As someone who studied Poli-Sci, and who worked on behalf of government and academia I wholeheartedly agree.

The extrapolation of this research is, of course, that all children's programs older than a few years should be scrapped as they do not reflect the obviously better values of today's society.
