Moon First Timer :)

Hi People,

It's the guy with the lobotomised scope ( and yes, I took it from the bottom, not the top as a certain somebody suggested - )

Anyway, I was pleased with it, nothing like that first pic when you download it, and take a gander, and I was actually surprised by how well it came out.

Is the same shot barlowed a good idea ?

A long long learning curve here, but a great experience in store.

You guys have so much experience, my first will be pale by comparison, but hell, I love it!

Lobotisied 10" Newt/Dob
Canon 500D

Cheers

Lance

And so you should Lance great effort mate, the heading was a bit obscure, got your drift.

It is a very large pic though mate, but a fine effort indeed.

Excellent work for a first timer.
very sharp.
I hope you don't mind but I've put your image through Paint Shop Pro and toned it all down to bring out more detail.

Hi Leon,

Well, what can I say - got some attention, and perhaps a few replies to steer me in the right direction.

Turned out great, but in my opinion, the other I took, of Jupiter with 3 moons, was better.

Showed it to a few guys at work, and the reply was "Whats the Point". My reply was, the point is, they are MOONS cirling a planet 800 million km away!

Bah, you can't explain to people like that.

Cheers

P.S.

I think the live view feature is a big plus with the latest Canon cameras, but personally, I fould going via the viewfinder better for focus.

Tried a lot of different settings, this was ISO/100 F4.5

Cheers
