Question meteor in central qld??

I've just come in from some stargazing...as we lifted the telescope onto the step, the whole yard lit up briefly. We ran out, to see a wide, bright trail going SE which lasted for many minutes, fading slowly; also an odd but noticeable bang/thump around 3-4 minutes after. Did anyone else see this? We are between Bundaberg and Gladstone in Qld and quite interested to know what it was and if others saw it and/or heard the bang?

My mate just sms'd me telling me that he saw a meteor or similar impact to the north and a little west of his place at Glass house mountains. He said it was like daylight for a few seconds and he also heard a bang or thud.

After I received the message I realised that although I didn't see anything, we had a slight power brown-out and also heard a dull thud from the distance at about the same time. I live in Nambour which lies between both of your locations. My mate estimates that it landed somewhere near Mapleton which is quite close to where I am.

Anyone else?
