Anyone made their bookings for accomodation yet ?

I've already booked a cabin at a caravan park over on the other side of the GDR from Cairns and not far from the track of blackness, at a place called Mt Carbine , I think the chances of cloudless skies inland are better than on the coast at the time of the eclipse.
The lady who manages the caravan park says she's already had a couple of queries including mine.

My plan is to drive up and make a driving holiday of it , getting in a bit fishing (if I convince myself to buy a tinny by then) and a bit 4x4 driving and touring up in Cairns - Cooktown to Gulf area.

My plans certainly aren't that advanced. I'm due for long service leave in June that year and I've already told the boss I'll be taking a long break. We sort of intend to do a loop through the centre and then go up the Cape and catch the eclipse on the way back.

I wonder whether any locals have an opinion on the best observing site, and whether they want to let everyone in on the secret?

I would probly have to go up to my relatives up there if i wanted to see it.
