NEQ6 and HEQ6

Is there any difference apart from the label on the side , is the attachment of the dovetail different?? Mine seems to have a normal dovetail.

I don't think so.

A couple of micks from Bintel told me that they are the same...just different boxes, and they had no idea why!!

I understand the NEQ6 and HEQ6 are identical apart from the head where the dovetail is located. The NEQ6 provides for a wider dovetail giving greater rigidity when carrying tubes like newtonians. Regards Mark

you guys are partially correct, EQ6Pro and the NEQ6 are exactly the same bar the badge on the side, the NEQ6-w is the uprated mount that should have included in the package a losmandy style D saddle, 75mm dovetail, and a upgraded counterweight bar. generally you can get this setup for about 100 bucks if i remember but it isn't that flash!

Hi

There two models avaliable;

NEQ6-T (Traditional, eg Vixen style)

and the

NEQ6-W (Wide, eg Losmandy D series)

The N in NEQ6 stands for Newtonian as Skywatch was planning to match it with a 12" Newt, I think.

I have been given to understand the motors are beefed up to take the 12" newt. - several shops have told me this, Is this so?

also, if you get the NEQ-w, Can you put a Vixen dovetail on it as well or only the wider ones?

I've just bought a new NEQ6pro.
This was initially sold ONLY with the larger reflectors with a Losmandy (wide) dovetail fitting.
Now it's being sold as a mount on its own with a "standard" Vixen dovetail attachment. The Losmandy dovetails can be fitted but you need to change of the Puck ( the clamp fixture) on the mount.
All NEQ6pros have the same motors, firmware and Synscan controllers.
Capacity is rated at 25Kg
