Helix DSLR

Finally a break in the clouds the other night! Managed to capture the Helix Nebula.

This is through ED80 and a williams optics flattener 0.8x. Ended up at F6 at FL 480mm. Guided with DSI III on LX200.

Only got 4 x 4min until clouds rolled in (Plus I stuffed up some settings and threw out 2 x 8 min subs!)

Imaged through my recently modded (Thanks Eric) Canon 350D (with hutech LPS 2).

Also would like to thank Peter (EXFSO) for his wonderful light box service. Used it for the first time on this image and the difference between the calibrated and the uncalibrated was definatly apparent.

Thanks Baz - I think the mod helped out in that respect.

This is a really nice shot. I love the darkness surrounding the Helix.
