Driving to Young (NSW) for the weekend

Heading up the Hume for a wedding in Young this weekend. The longest trip I've driven. Taking the Old Gundagai Rd across to Cootamundra, then up the Olympic Hwy. I hope the weather will be not too hot, and the hayfever stops in time. Can anyone tell me what condition of the Old Gundagai Road is like from Coolac to Cootmundra? Otherwise we'll turn off earlier and go through Wagga?

Hi Stephen

The road from Coolac to Coota is fine, there is a new turnoff on the Hume Hwy bypass, no dramas on it, will be hot though.

Call in for a cuppa if you wish, PM me and I will give you my address.

Cheers

Hi John,

By the time I got packed and hit the road I missed your post. Decided to turn of and took the Olympic Hwy all the way - Wagga - Junee - Coota - Young. Nice drive. Took the wrong turn in Junee at the railway station, but that only delayed us by a couple of minutes. Loved the area, John, but the hayfever played havoc with me.

Took the Old Gundagai road back at midday Sunday into Coolac. Yes, very easy to find!

I nice drive from Melbourne to Young in only 6 hours, obeying all the speed resrictions, as I always do.

What is with this "reverse" angle parking in some NSW towns? Quite a novelty for us, and amusing for the locals watching Victorians trying to attempt it. My summary of the procedure is.. reverse park next to the adjacent car and ignore the lines on the road!

p.s. Magnificent skies, but no time for astronomy!
