What equipment to get next???

I have a budget of about 800$ AUD (australian dollars) i was thinking of getting the badder hyperion 8-24mm zoom, a telrad and a barlow and mabey a few other things OR should i get the argo navis the argo navis itself costs 600$ and the encoders are 200$ for my dob but which should i get first if i get the zoom i would have way better quality views than i do now but it would be hard for me to find things but if i get the argo i will be able to find anything but will have to wait a few months before getting the zoom

So which do you think would be best to get first???

Agreed - Argo Navis first. Unless you like to spend much of your time starhopping and searching?

Go the Argo first .......... Less time lookin g for the fuzzy stuff in the sky and more time looking through your scope .

As a committed star hopper, I wouldnt' go for an argo. Mind you, I have the luxury of dark skies at my back door, so I don't mind fluffing around while I find things. If you have the time and patience, star hopping is a great way to learn the sky. I'd be going for the telrad immediately and then some very goo eyepieces and probably not zooms (although I have no experience of zoom eps)

Just my two bob's worth.

Now that I've had my 10" DOB for 4 months, I too have asked myself that same question about what to get next. After talking to the guys at the Pony Club observation night and reading various comments on this forum, I've decided that an ARGO is the next purchase I'm saving up for.

I've come to this conclusion based on the fact that I'm currently happy with the eye pieces I got with the DOB, and as a newbie under a dark sky I found it difficult to get my bearings. As time goes on, I'm sure I will learn the night sky, but right now I want to see as much as possible to keep my enthusiasm going.

Hope that helps.

I'd go for the Telrad and other gear but then I like the thrill of the hunt.

Maybe an Argo one day..........
