EQ6 or CG5 GT mounts - PEC?

Hi All, getting mixed messages from dealers I've been talking to on these mounts. Can anyone confirm whether the EQ6 (without skyscan) and/or the CG5 GT (celestron advanced series) has periodic error correction functionality/trainability?

thanks,

PEC needs SynScan on the EQ6, refer quote extract from home page of the Yahoo EQ6 group.

"Synta introduced the EQ6-SkyScan in 2004, adding GOTO, PEC and autoguide functionality to the EQ6."

In either case you should talk to dealer who knows what they are talking about IMHO.

Standard EQ6 has no drive training...you have to get the skyscan as metioned above...

Not sure on the CG5 but it does have the autostar which does have PEC.

Saying this the EQ6 mount is a much heavier mount then the CG5.

The CG5 is just Synta's EQ5 made into a Celestron.

Have you looked into the HEQ5 again this is much heavier then the EQ5 but smaller then the EQ6.

depends on the use I suppose.
