SD card software MySky

If anyone knows where I can get a copy of Meade MySky SD Card software V3.1 or newer, please let me know.

(youll know why, if you read my general chat topic)

Just buy a new SD card 2GB will work (it did for me) then do the update direct from the update program this will put the earlier version on. Then go to the Mysky Group in Yahoo groups and do a search. Someone there has the latest software for download. Just replace the firmware file with the new one.

Incidently I have one of the ealier MySky units and it works great. The GPS is lousy but works occasionally. It is not necessary to use the GPS. Once your location is set up just enter the date/time manually and it will work OK even 200km from the set location.

Barry

P.S If you can't find it I have a copy of 1.3b firmware.

been there, done that.

Thanks Barry, but I have combed the net and have yet to find a copy.

I found lots of comments about how Meade in USA supplies new cards where people have used the mysky update program and ended up with the old incompatible version loaded on the card. The Australian Suppliers haven't even answered my emails. My SD card still works, its just got the wrong program on it.

You mentioned that you have a copy of 3b, is it possible for you to zip it for me?, if so, I will send you a PM with my address

I am not sure because I haven't got the MySky here.
Put the sd card into a card reader and see where the firmware.bin is located.
Unzip the file I sent to get firmware.bnn. Change the extension to bin (I think this was a change made at one time because *.bin attachments can't be made to some emails).
Copy the new version to the SD card. (save the old version)
If you have a new sd card don't forget to name it the same as the original.

According to my friendly mysky dealer, it cant be done with the newer myskys due to a copyright protection subprogram.

The obliging Barry's copy didn't work in mine either.

You need to do what i did, and get a new card from the dealer.

That is interesting. I had trouble making a card the first time I tried until I formatted the card the same way as the original. It required to be named the same way as the original. Then it worked OK from the Update program.

Futher to my last post I have reclaimed my spare SD card from my son who has the Mysky these days and uses it all the time. It is great When I need to know the name of stars for a two star alignment on my LX200.

I have looked at the contents and there are a lot of files arranged into four sub folders with two hidden files in the main folder.

A new card can be made from a blank card using the mysky update program but the card will not be recognised until it has the name "MYSKY"

However I can copy all the above information of the original card onto a blank SD card of any size to make a working SD card as long as it has the name "MYSKY"

I have made a zip file that has the image of the SD card but it is 163 MB long so it cannot be added to this post. The version is 12tc

Hello Barry

You don't know me, buy I need you. I'm from Spain and I have a problem with MYSKY. You say that you have made a zip file that has the image of the SD card but it is 163 MB long so it cannot be added to this post. The version is 12tc. But, you can upload this zip to emule or ares, or you can added de FIRMWARE.BIN? Or maybe you can send it me (in parts) by e-mail?. I need a miracle!!!!!!! quiquepor@hotmail.com

Thanks
