StarryNight announce direct manual downloads

After years of complaints about their dodgy -often overloaded and unavailabled - automated update servers/ system (where you have to disable firewalls/security) SN have finally given in and are soon? to make available direct zipped/compressed downloads of updates such as asteroids/comets satelites ect. (I am not talking about patch updates - which have always been available in this form) . People on dialup or with no internet can now make them transferable files ie CD/DVD ect from another connection elsewhere ect. Yeehaa! at last! Up until now i was manually putting in new comets in via c&p script/text - that can be labourious at times. and it will make it easier for the less technically minded/interested I guess, at least you know you have definitely updated it!. Still its not available just yet...

"Shannon / All,

We have heard your appeals. I can't promise that stand-alone updaters
will be available for all products at the exact moment that the
automatic updaters are put online, but they will become available
shortly thereafter (for selected products).

As for the comets/asteroids... not sure what the problem is here.
Even people who report error messages (and the smaller proportion who
discover that this is NOT due to their security software) have found
ways around this.

It would be an easy thing for us to make these files available for
direct download, but I'm not sure who that would help and how...?
