Praying Mantis 1, Wasp 0

I heard an aggressive buzzing noise coming from my passionfruit vine at lunch time. A carful look showed a praying mantis was chowing down on a wasp that was struggling for life. Ran to grab my camera and managed to pickup these closeups. Thankfully my proximaty didn't disturb the feeding praying mantis.

WOW is what came to my mind when I went over the pics.

I love this sort of thing. Mantids are ruthless and efficient killers. Graphic, but I found these fascinating:

Praying mantis vs mouse
versus hummingbird
versus snake

The list goes on, but you get the idea.

Great shots mate! I remember seeing praying mantis on Utube, attacking and killing snakes, mice and small birds!

Awesome hunters!

Baz.
