Yahoo! Got Remote DEsktop going.

Whacko! I'm seriously chuffed. I have managed to get Remote Desktop going over my home wireless LAn reaching out across the paddock a couple of hundred metres to the Observatory and can now run the main EQ6 EQMOD scope/PHD/Nebulosity computer from inside the house.
For a serious luddite, this is seriously cool stuff.
Used a TV antenna with a parabolic shape to amplify signal from the house and pass it through an access point into the ethernet port of the computer.
Please imagine the sound of champagne corks going off.

From the perspective of a fellow luddite, I'm truly impressed!

Cheers

I knew you'd figure it out Peter...

Now, connect the roof of your observatory to your PC via a USB relay of some sort so you can close it up from inside the house should you have to... Thats the next step mate!

I use RDP at home to connect to my laptop outside, I control EQMOD and MaximDL from inside my house... I only walk outside to cover it up at dawn...

The logic of women: my wife's spin of this was "Terrific: but you'll have to get more exercise now to replace the effort lost in walking back and forwards to the observatory 3 times a night."
Hmmm! So Alex, the roof relay would only make matters worse. Next thig she'll have me in a gym!!!
