Moon with a ToUcam - 25 OCT 2005

Well I finally got around to processing my moon avi's from the other night.
Again these are my first tries at the moon with the toucam.
This little camera is terrific.

Hope you enjoy,

Nice shots... haven't seen the moon for that long and I've been practicing with the LPI on terrestrials, but the clouds just keep coming....

Andrew these a good shots, nice and sharp, but I feel as though you had the gain a bit too high. The western part of the image is blown, meaning that it is a little over exposed, you can get around this by dropping your contrast a little and this will improve the image. Next time just try using less gain or a faster shutter speed. Keep up the good work.

Thanks guys for all your nice comments. Very kind indeed.
Glad you like 'em.

Rumples you are spot on as usual mate. I can see the exposures are a bit high and next time I will follow your advice. Cheers

Houghy get a toucam : Houghy get a toucam: Houghy get a toucam
It should be on the top of your list dude.

Thanks once again guys.

Thanks to "rumples recipes for really rippa rimages" , i always set my gain to zero first and then set my exposure. If i have to then a might go as high as 10% to brighten it up a bit.

Having done a little playing with alternate stakcers like iris, would i be right in saying that if you are going to stack, you should err on the darker side as stacking will increase the brightness???

I find if I take the exposures on the duller side then when stacking takes place the image just needs a little stretch to get it right. If you image is too bright aftere stacking try dropping the brightness a bit.

Yes you're right David,
Rumples receipies are spot on. Can't wait to have another go at the moon and mars.
I have to start thinking in terms of film settings when using the Toucam capture.

Cheers guys.
