NGC 6744 & NGC 246 - We're back on board again

We haven't been on line for a while due to me having a bad case of pneumonia. David has been doing lots of running around taking me to specialists x-rays cat scans and procedures and so we both lost interest in turning the PC on at all.

I'm now feeling a little better and we both feel like getting back into things again

We see we have missed many amazing images posted during our spell off line. Congratulations to you guys and gals you just keep on improving with each image posted. Great Stuff .

We have only managed a couple during the past couple of months so here's our last two.

Hopefully we can get out again next month. Clear skies permitting of course

Details

25//7/09 NGC 6744 - faint barred spiral galaxy which seems to be in a rich star field.

18/8/09 NGC 246 - planetary nebula

Celestron C9.25 using 6.3 focal reducer
Canon 40D unmodded

Beautiful work. I love 6744 in particular. What sort of exposure length were these taken at?

WOW! - 6744 is amazing! I had a crack at it a few weeks back, the result was so horrible I didnt even bother posting it... I did (from memory) 35x5min subs and just got the central structure and a little bit of the arms...

That is - incredible.

Well done indeed, and welcome back to imaging! I've missed your images!

A very nice pair of images Guys. Glad to hear you are recovering. Pneumonia seems to be fairly prevalant this year. My mother is recovering from a bout which put her in hospital for 5 weeks and layed up for another 3 at home. Medico's at Wodonga say it is the worst year most can remember.

Glad to see you returning to normal and on the meand.
Keep those images coming. Looking very good.

Thanks Alex, we were pretty pleased with the detail in 6744 it took a bit of work to get the extensions but managed to draw more than expected.
Appreciate the comments.

Sorry to hear about your mother Doug good to here she is improving though. Sure does seem to be bad for respiratory problems this year.

David has missed getting data and of course I have missed the processing side of things, but hopefully we can gather more soon.

Thanks for the info David - puts in perspective the great amount of effort to produce such stunning pics.

Pardon me not wishing your wife a complete recovery too - I was too distracted by the beautiful pics on display.....

Beautiful work guys.
Great to see you back and hope you make a full recovery Barb.

Both these shots are great, I keep flicking between the two and can't decide which one I like better.

Cheers guys.

Cheers guys.
We enjoyed doing these two Andrew both totally different in capture and processing. We sometimes like to stray off the mainstream and try different objects sometimes.
