Wind?

Should I use my 8" newtonian when it is windy? I'm concerned about the dust.

oh gee jps, i really dont know... how much wind are you talking about? strong winds will make the telescope shake anyhow so it proably wouldnt be worth viewing. are you in a dust0prone environment?

I see your point about the wobbles. Currently I use my telescope both in the suburbs and in a small country town approx 120km from city. The suburbs are fine but the country location can be very dusty. In fact each year their are several of what could be suitably called dust storms. Hopefully the wobbles will give me a heads up.

jps, Dust will get in even in the mildest breeze. Shouldn't bother seeing too much. Takes a really dirty mirror to have any great effect. You can always clean it! (carefully). Windy conditions usually mean *Bad* seeing.
