I'd love to do that, but I have no real people photography experience, let alone wedding experience. Wedding photography is a lot more complicated than it appears to the naked eye, at least from the few books that I've read on the subject. You can't afford to make mistakes, you have to nail shots, etc. If I could develop wedding imaging skills and make contacts in the game, then yes, providing I could offer a quality product to potential customers, I'd consider wedding photography more strongly. At the moment though, my skills aren't up to provide a quality product imho. Not talking myself down or being negative, but simply being honest about my own abilities. I'd rather be honest and conservative with my abilities than lie about them.
As an aside, this is one thing I can't understand about my current employer - one of the tech staff lies about his qualifications - he supposedly has a degree in teaching, a degree in biology, and CCNA. He has none of this, but he bandies it about, much to my, and one of the other techs chagrin. Our bosses don't care about it. They don't seem to care about excessive sick leave, lateness to work, disappearing from your desk for lengthy periods of time (and thus, not doing your job), taking an hour to do a ten minute tech call, and so on and so forth. This has resulted in me having to take up the slack of the other 2 techs, to the detriment of my health. Neither boss cares, they say they do, but it's all crocodile tears. My bosses have some weird concept of what being overworked and stressed is. Funny, the last time I looked at that, stress was an individual metric, not one that the boss(es) set and imposed on their employees. For what I'm currently on, and for the stress levels involved, it's simply not worth me remaining in the current role, hence looking elsewhere.
I'm a simple bloke - do the right thing by me and I'll be loyal and hard working. That's not too much to ask is it? I find it galling that I've busted a gut for this current employer, did more than my fair share of work, been loyal, hardworking, punctual, neat & tidy and actually done the specified job, but when I've complained to the bosses about my workmates not doing their share of the workload, I'm suddenly in the bad books and on the outer. I guess it shows my bosses true inner beings. I guess you don't become wealthy without screwing people over.
