Great shots, thanks Adam. I really enjoy Kookaburras singing as much as maggies in the morning.

Thanks Stephen, yep there's something quite uniquely Aussie about the sounds of the magpie and kookaburra

Good shots Adam. BTW, magpies are all over the world, not unique to Australia ;-)

And that their are actually five different races of Aussie magpies.

Adam, I think that's a male, only because the male has the white ends to the tail.

It's nice when you learn something new isn't it? I do have a book on Australian birds, I probably should use it more, especially since I actually enjoy watching birds.

Dave, your probably like me, I used to love a spot of bird "watching", not the serious type, just oberving them whilst bushwalking, and being aware of what native birds are in my garden/general area, seeing an strage bird and checking the book.

Yup. That's me. I don't do much bush walking these days, but it was something that I enjoyed doing when I was younger. When my best mate got married, it all sort of died.

A good book I've found helpful is Simpson & Day's "Field Guide to the Birds of Australia". Am by no means a birder but it's a great resource to take away, fits nicely in the glove box too

I've got an old copy of Simpons book, but have a new version of Graham Pizzey & Frank Knight's 'the field guide to the birds of australia'. Much recommended.

Adam,

A couple of lovely unassuming portraits there, mate.

Kookaburras are such interesting creatures.

Thanks for sharing.

Humayun
