Jupiter, 5th September

Here's an image of Jupiter in moderate-to-fair conditions. The remains of the impact site can be seen just rotating into view top right. The GRS looks interesting.

cheers, Bird

Very nice image Anthony,

Isn't it amazing how dark the impact site appears to be when right on the limb, considering how diluted it has become when imaged at the CM.

Is that due to the foreshortened effect when at the limb or is there some other reason?

Regards
Trevor

Looking for some of this seeing too Bird, would be nice. How about a cloud filter as well.

That's a super image Anthony. I had hoped to get the impact site region last night but the seeing just didn't cooperate so I packed it sooner than I would have...

That's a beauty Anthony, don't know how I missed this one.

Great view of the GRS and the turbulence in the NEB.

Hey Joel, to IIS! Nice to see you here.
We had Jupiter at about 75deg altitude this year (i think).

Thanks for the welcome and answer Mike. You Australians have been doing the best planetary work for the past few years in my opinion, so hopefully me hanging out around here I might learn something or something might rub off on me.

Thanks Mike. Joel - nice to see you here. I think we're still getting Jupiter around 65 degrees. Next year it drops a lot.

cheers, Bird

Hi Anthony

I guess your impact will soon be indistinguishable from 'normal' activity - any guesses on how long you will be able to make it out? I am pleasantly surprised how long it has lasted.

Top image by the way!
