Comment on 5th Birthday thread

I'm fascinated by the number of avid IISers who obviously enjoy and have benefited greatly, yet have low post numbers - 10 or 20! I count over twenty so far.

Some of us just talk too much, I guess

I average 1.85 posts/day. This is my second post today, so you probably won't hear from me again until tomorrow.

Once I get a scope, I expect to average 3-4/day.

Don't really ever have anything to add, so I don't say anything!

I don't know that much about this hobby yet, so I'm content to sit back and read the other posts most of the time, and I couldn't really care how many posts I amass as long as I learn

I must admit that I had missed the birthday thread til this thread brought it to my attention today. There does seem to be a lot of post from people with low post counts. This is fine as I'm sure lots of people use the forum to gain info that has already been asked.
It would be interesting to see how many regular posters have also missed the tread as there didn't seem to be that many. Not sure how you would do this- See who with over 1000 posts are not in the thread.

I have been a member of this forum for many years now and look at it at least a few times a week but I dont post much simply because I hate the Censorship, I believe in freedom of speech but Mike does not. I suspect many others feel the same.

When this changes I will become an active member.

People are free to choose where they go, as are you, and anyone else.

On topic, I think it's great to see that members with relatively low post counts get just as much out of IceInSpace as those with high post counts. Whether they're new members or old members who just don't post much, they're still getting a huge benefit from being part of the community.

Internet communities are no different to real life communities or any "group of people" you'd care to gather together in a room.

There's always those that do a lot of talking, and those who sit at the back and just listen and take it in.

I just got the latest issue of Australian Sky and Telescope in the mail together with a moon chart and disc (no covering letter). I didnt order it or subscribe. It just came out of the blue. Has that happened to anyone else on IIS. I'm just wondering if its some kind of promotional thang.

well i may be a newbie with a low post count but i have been on here pretty much every day since joining lol.

When you don't know something, find out

and there is lots i don't know yet so ill be here for a long while yet
