Welcome to our newest member Iceman

Welcome Ice.

Where did you hear about us???

Enjoy the forums and I would draw you attention to spamming guidelines so that all members can enjoy this forum in harmony!

Ken is our resident spam keeper, He has a magic flute that draws the spam to him.

So if you feel the need to spam, spam ken!

I can see you are in victoria, why not drop in to the star camp. The cost is only $1000 per family. Please make this cheque payable to one Mr D Ving.

There will be lots of telescopes for looking at things and eyepieces for looking at telescopes looking at things. Scopes can be rented for $1000 also.

An an entry scope, I would suggest a Meade RCX400 16" Advanced Ritchey-Cretien w/UHTC . The price tag $27,800.00 is very reasonable for the beginner. It comes with 4 bonus televue naglers. These are japanese copies of the more expensive series 500 eyepieces frm china.

Enjoy your stay

Welcome Iceman!

You will get differing opinions from all the members in here but you should stay clear of the Meade RCX400 16" Advanced Ritchey-Cretien w/UHTC. Most of them have been recalled for repairs to faulty equipment.

I would suggest a 4 metre Reflector with 'atomic clock real time' tracking and infra-red spectrum analysis photography attachment.
I know it's only newbie equipment but you gotta start somewhere. Better than jumping in too deep as the start and buying something you may not stick with.

Ask anything you like. We may ignore your questions, but hey, what are friends for.

Encourage? Nah!

By the way Iceman, you will need to knock up a simple observatory for the 4 metre reflector. About 12 metre diameter should do the trick. Or maybe a roll off roof shed with tractors or bulldozers to slide the roof open and shut. Keep it simple.

Come on guys enoughs enough.

Yes in general chat you can chat about "anything" but it should at least be about "something".
Enough of the nonsensical threads already.
